Gentlemen Smugglers is Joining the PVP Fiesta!

Qué pasa, New Mexico? Guess who is coming to our Cinco de Mayo party. The secret is out, and the stash is secured – PVP is so excited to announce that we’re partnering with everyone’s favorite outlaws, Gentlemen Smugglers

With products just as legendary as their lore, our Cinco de Mayo just got a little extra sabór. In this blog, we’ll fill you in on the story of Gentlemen Smugglers and talk about why we’re stoked to have our two legacies link up.

Who are the Gentlemen Smugglers?

The Gentlemen Smugglers are members of one of the largest marijuana smuggling rings in America, operating completely under the radar. Between 1971 and 1986, they ruled the smuggling world, transporting more than 250 tons of marijuana from Jamaica and Colombia, in addition to copious amounts of hash from Lebanon. The crew hailed from coastal South Carolina, and throughout their exploits they risked treacherous waters, civil wars, incarceration, and sanity in order to rise to the top.

After years of acting as distributors and dispensaries on the down-low, they become the prime targets for the opening act of President Reagan’s War on Drugs: Operation Jackpot. The leader of the Gentlemen Smugglers, Barry “Flash” Foy, was charged under the federal kingpin statute and spent 11 years in prison. Most of the crew faced charges under the smuggling statute and also paid a heavy price.

However, they never lost their rogue spirit, belief in the plant, or their sense of humor. Now that they are older and wiser, they’ve re-entered the cannabis business scene, on the legal side this time. They use this platform to boldly advocate for the end of needless incarceration for nonviolent marijuana offenses.

Two Legacies Joining Forces: PVP x Gentlemen Smugglers

Pecos Valley Production, led by Gerry Greathouse, started as a dairy farm with 35 years under its belt. In 2016, we transformed our cow-to-customer milk operation, which was known for its focus on quality and sustainability, into a cannabis cultivation site, shifting from dairy to dank. The transition from managing dairy farms to navigating the complex cannabis industry has showcased our adaptability and resilience.

Gerry’s three sons, who all carry the same tireless work ethic and commitment to quality as their father, seamlessly transitioned these values into the cannabis space. Despite facing new challenges, the family’s ability to overcome propelled them to emerge as leaders in New Mexico’s cannabis market. Now, PVP leverages this platform to enhance our community by engaging in philanthropic activities and promoting responsible cannabis use, all in support of our vision to create a lasting legacy of impact and innovation.

The partnership between Gentlemen Smugglers and Pecos Valley Production represents a convergence of minds and missions, each benefiting from the legacy of the other. Gentlemen Smugglers, with its outlaw past as pioneers in the illicit cannabis trade, brings an unparalleled depth of industry insight and a free spirit of adventure.

Meanwhile, Pecos Valley Production, grounded in our transformation from dairy to dank, brings our profound commitment to quality and sustainability. Together, we blend an old-school daring nature and modern agricultural practices to forge a powerful alliance in the cannabis industry. We’re excited to deliver a vintage twist to the future of cannabis in New Mexico.
